Maps

A map is a drawing of a specific place, such as a city or a country, showing its landmarks and features as they would look if viewed from above. Maps are very important and they guide us when we are unsure of our route. Getting around an unfamiliar neighborhood can already be difficult.

Political maps show individual countries and the national boundaries that separate one country from another.

Thematic maps are maps that provide specific information on a theme. For Example, climatic maps provide details on information such as rainfall, temperature, and atmospheric pressure of a place, country, region, or the world.

An economic and resource map shows the different types of natural resources, such as oil, gas, and coal, that are available in a certain area. Economic activities that take place within an area can also be featured on these kinds of maps.

A physical map shows physical features such as hills, rivers, valleys, and plains.

Road maps would perhaps be one of the maps that you have come across. A road map, route map, or street map is a map that primarily displays roads and transport links rather than natural geographical information. It is a type of navigational map that commonly includes political boundaries and labels, making it also a type of political map.

Topographical maps, like physical maps, show the physical features of a place. However, a topographical map is more detailed than a physical map.
